The Lamp Series is a sequence of working lamps cast in bronze. Each lamp is a sculpture first and a light second. The manifesto for the series sets out what the lamps are for, how they are made and what they ask of the room they stand in.

This file holds that text. It is set at a reading measure of sixty-five characters, in the House's body face, so that it reads comfortably in both Terminal and Gallery modes.

Casting

Each lamp begins as a wax form, invested, burned out and poured. The House records each stage of the casting in the foundry log, with images and dates.

Light

The bulb is part of the work. Its warmth, its position and its shadow are chosen with the same care as the surface of the bronze.

The lantern

The Hermit carries a lantern to see the next step, not the whole road. The series takes that as its measure.
